• With the thriller “Lockdown,” NFTs gain more traction in the film industry

  • Before it hits theaters, “Lockdown,” a new thriller inspired by the pandemic, will be released as a non-fungible token. Xander Berkeley, who starred in “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” is among the project’s notable cast members. It will focus on innovative technology, according to director Bizhan Tong:

“Lockdown” is a satire on the events of 2020, particularly our increased reliance on technology and the creative ways in which it can be used.

AMM Global, a subsidiary of major Hong Kong-based broadcaster ATV, British production company Phoenix Waters Productions, and investment management firm YG Capital all contributed to the film’s production.

One of the most exciting use cases for NFTs has emerged: collectible movies. Some believe that the new technology will be able to bring a modern touch to the DVD collector market, which has been rendered nearly obsolete by the rapid spread of streaming. A thriller starring two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins debuted as an NFT earlier this month.
