Crypto exchange platform Crypto.com has hired Henrik Johansson, Spotify’s former head of global user growth, to lead its own growth efforts. His new role will be that of global head of growth.
According to a press release, the platform has hired 1,500 people in the last year, bringing its total headcount to 1,800, in line with other major exchanges. In addition, the company intends to aggressively expand its user base, aiming to grow from 10 million to 100 million users within two years.
“Streaming brought the world’s music into people’s pockets at never-before-seen prices, speeds, and ease-of-use. The music industry evolved alongside changes in consumer behavior and preferences “Johansson revealed to The Block. “Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology has the potential to be equally transformative technologies, and the key to accelerating its growth is making the technology more accessible and approachable to a broader group of consumers.”
Crypto.com has already prioritized expansion. It became the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) official fight kit partner in July, a long-term agreement. Its logo is now appearing on fighter kits, such as the recent Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor trilogy fight, which drew 1.8 million pay-per-view viewers.
In the release, Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek stated, “Henrik is a rare talent with a deep understanding of growth, product, and marketing.”
Crypto firms have continued to aggressively hire, with a number of key hires made in the last seven months, including many from traditional finance and technology.
