• PSV Eindhoven Has Begun Accepting Bitcoin Sponsorships

  • PSV Eindhoven received the entire sponsorship deal from Anycoin Direct in bitcoin.

Philips Sport Vereningin – better known as PSV Eindhoven – a European soccer team, has signed a partnership with a local cryptocurrency exchange. One of the terms of the agreement states that the club will receive the entire sponsorship in bitcoin.

    PSV receives BTC

The European club announced the partnership with Anycoin Direct earlier this week, highlighting that PSV will be one of the first major soccer teams in the EU to have the entirety of their sponsorship paid in the primary cryptocurrency.

For the next two seasons, the digital asset exchange will serve as the Official Partner. Both parties want to spread the word about cryptocurrencies and the trading platform in Europe.

We contacted Sander Jacobs, Account Manager Partnerships and Business Development, who confirmed that PSV will keep the funds in BTC but has a stop loss at which it will sell if the asset’s value falls significantly.

Jacobs also stated that the team believes in the promising developments of the digital asset industry, and that several clubs in the Netherlands are also looking for similar partnerships with exchanges.

It is important to note that this sponsorship agreement between a cryptocurrency exchange and a Dutch soccer team is unique. AZ Alkmaar, another local club, partnered with Bitcoin Meester earlier this year and received a portion of the sponsorship deals in BTC.

Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin Are ‘Very Promising.’

According to the statement, PSV had established the necessary BTC wallets to facilitate the partnership agreement and receive the funds. According to Frans Janssen, Commercial Director PSV, the “possibilities and future that the world of cryptocurrency offers are very promising.”

He believes that the club’s location – in the heart of the Brainport region – allows it to be very innovative all of the time, and that the digital asset space “fits well into this picture.”

“Having grown up in the area, PSV has always been very close to me. We are very excited to be working with PSV as a technology company from the Brainport area. The payment in Bitcoin represents the next step in the adoption of cryptocurrency in the EU,” said Lennert Vlemmings, COO of Anycoin.
