• Adoption: In Europe, you can now pay for parking tickets with Bitcoin

  • Seety, SHOP.COM, and Worldline are the most recent businesses to accept digital assets as payment.

Seety, a Belgian digital parking startup, allowed app users to pay for parking sessions in Antwerp and Brussels using Bitcoin (BTC). Aside from the primary cryptocurrency, six other digital assets are available, including Ethereum (ETH) and Dogecoin (DOGE).

Separately, the e-commerce behemoth ShopCom has enabled its customers to make purchases using a variety of cryptocurrencies.

Park Your Vehicle and Pay in Cryptocurrency

Seety, a Belgian app, allowed customers to pay for parking tickets with cryptocurrency. For the time being, the offer is limited to the cities of Brussels and Antwerp.

Customers who want to use the new crypto option should buy Seety credits through the app. They can currently use seven different cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Dai (DAI), and USD Coin are among them (USDC).

Seety is a digital parking application founded by Hadrien Crespin and Nicolas Cognaux that operates not only in Belgium but also in France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. It has over 350,000 active members and expects to make 400,000 euros in revenue in 2021.

Seety, a member of the start-up accelerator Start it @ KBC, is a big fan of cryptocurrency. It expects digital assets to become more eco-friendly in the future. Having said that, Seety expressed optimism that global adoption of Bitcoin and altcoins would skyrocket.

    BitPay and SHOP

SHOP(dot)com has partnered with BitPay, a bitcoin service provider, to enable customers to make cryptocurrency purchases.

Users will be able to pay with Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Dogecoin (DOGE), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Litecoin (LTC), and 5 USD-pegged stablecoins at the checkout (GUSD, USDC, PAX, DAI, and BUSD).

Worldline, a multinational payment services company, has also jumped on the cryptocurrency bandwagon. Worldline and Bitcoin Suisse’s integrated service, WL Crypto Payments, has enabled 85,000 Swiss merchants to accept Bitcoin and Ether as payment options at the point-of-sale (POS) and in e-commerce.

To participate in the offer, traders must download the WL Crypto Payments mobile app, whereas customers paying with digital assets can do so through their usual mobile crypto wallet app. Marc Schluep, CEO of Worldline Switzerland, said:

“The acceptance of cryptocurrencies at the POS in Switzerland is a great proof of our ambition: Worldline wants to bring tangible value to merchants all over the world and to facilitate smooth and modern payments in all the markets we operate in.”

Furthermore, a Louisville coffee shop intends to accept Dogecoin as payment. The store even vowed to rename itself “Dogebean.” Customers can only order online for the time being because the shop is closed for rebranding.
