Meet “The Bitcoin Family,” a Bitcoin-only decentralized nomad family. Didi Taihuttu, 43, is married with three children. They are known as the family who liquidated all of their assets in 2017 to purchase Bitcoin at a price of around $900. Taihuttu exemplifies a true Bitcoin enthusiast. According to his website, after the death of his mother and, later, his father, he “began reflecting on life more and more and discovered that the life I was living was not the life I wanted to live.” I realized that life could move very quickly and that I needed to change.”
The Dutchman sold everything he owned, including his 11-year-old business and his children’s toys. Then he bought a van and hit the road with his family, living a minimalistic nomad life while waiting for a crypto boom. This occurred in 2017.
Taihuttu’s Long-Term Bitcoin Involvement
Didi first learned about Bitcoin in 2013, long before he became famous. He and two of his friends began mining for Bitcoin. According to Taihuttu, “I am an entrepreneur, so when I first heard about bitcoin, I said: Let’s do this.” Unfortunately, that venture was a failure, and he had to close it down. According to him, he lost faith in Bitcoin during the 2014 crash.
But that was not the end of his relationship with Bitcoin, as he continued to cross paths with it. When he noticed that more people were purchasing Bitcoins, he predicted that a monetary revolution would ensue. And he was correct. This realization prompted him to go all in. It is estimated that at the time, after selling all of his assets, he was able to acquire approximately 100 Bitcoins worth approximately $350,000.
Secret Crypto Vaults of the Family
The family has amassed a fortune through their investments and has decided to keep it safe in secret vaults. These vaults are spread across four continents in various countries. Taihuttu has two hideouts in Europe, two in Asia, one in South America, and one in Australia.
“I have hidden the hardware wallets across several countries so that I never have to fly very far if I need to access my cold wallet to jump out of the market,” Bitcoin Family member Taihuttu explained. According to the family, the crypto stashes are hidden in a variety of ways and locations, ranging from rental apartments and friends’ homes to self-storage facilities. “I prefer to live in a decentralized world where I have the responsibility to protect my capital,” Taihuttu explained.
The Nomad Life of Didi Taihuttu and His Family
The Dutch family began a new life in 2017, documenting their travels on YouTube and other social media platforms. “My wife and I agreed that we were very happy as a traveling family and that we needed to teach the kids that they could be very happy without all of the luxury we used to have,” Taihuttu explained.
